C21st African Land Grab

Huge thanks to Alberto for pointing me towards various sources of detail concerning the modern-day land grab which has been playing out in southern Ethiopia for some time. The links are provided below and well worth a look. One of the main areas this seems to be happening is the Lower Omo Valley. According to the press coverage the Ethiopian government have allocated and advertised this land to global 'agro-industry' investors. It remains to be seen how damaging such activities will be to the inhabitants of the Elma River Valley but if history is anything to go by then devastating consequences could follow.
